Pickups & Returns
While walk-ins are welcome, we recommend booking in advance, especially during weekends and holidays to guarantee availability. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. If it's too late to make a reservation, simply come in and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to allow time for fitting, safety checks, and route recommendations.
Late returns may result in an additional hourly fee. Please call us if you’re running behind and we’ll be happy to work with you when possible.
Bikes can be picked up and returned at our main shop location. We also offer scheduled drop-offs for added convenience for a fixed $15 fee + $10 per bike. Please contact us in advance to arrange a drop-off
Overnight or even weekly rentals are available upon request. We’ll provide a secure lock and review safe storage guidelines with you. Contact us for long-term rental inquiries.
Safety & Guidelines
Helmets are required for riders under 18 and for all throttle-equipped e-bikes such as fat-tire e-bikes and cargo e-bikes, but we strongly recommend to use a helmet for all bikes.
We suggest bringing sunscreen, water, comfortable clothing, sneakers, and a charged phone or a map if you are exploring longer routes. Helmets and locks are included with all rentals, but feel free to bring your own.
We offer kid-sized bikes, child seats, trailers, and tag-alongs so every family setup is covered. Depending upon size they can ride on the front of a surrey, or on a car seat behind an e-bike or even in a trailer. Cargo e-bikes can also accommodate a passenger, kid or adult. Kids under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Yes, all our bikes meet local regulations and are equipped for use on designated roads and bike paths.
Absolutely! Our team will walk you through how to use your bike, adjust settings, and provide tips for safe riding.
Trails & Ride Recommendations
Some bikes, like our Comfort Cruisers and certain e-bikes, can handle light gravel or mixed terrain. Beach Cruisers and Surreys are best for paved trails.
Yes! We offer trail maps, printed guides, and personal recommendations from our staff, who ride these trails themselves.
It takes 30-35 minutes to ride to Camp Richardson Beach on an e-bike at a leisurely pace, crossing meadows and wooded areas along the way. More on a regular bike. Add ~15 minutes to continue to Baldwin Beach on an e-bike. If you stop for a sandwich or an ice cream at Camp Richardson, or take your time to enjoy the scenery, the beach, and take pictures, the whole trip may take 3 hours or so.

There is no penalty for canceling your reservation, however if you can't make it we greatly appreciate advance notices.
Yes! Custom group packages are available for large parties of 8 people or more, please contact us for group inquiries.
Yes! We offer demo bikes for rent, and if you decide to purchase a brand-new bike afterward, we’ll apply the full rental fee as credit toward your purchase.
Yes, we can! We’ll help you find the bike that fits your needs. If we don’t have it in-store, we can order it directly from the manufacturer. As a licensed dealer for multiple top brands, we guarantee low pricing. We’ll even professionally assemble the bike for you and provide free maintenance anytime you visit our shop.
Tahoe Bike Company Value Proposition
Tahoe Bike Company is a top-rated local favorite, located in the center of town, and known for its wide selection of e-bikes, family friendly options, and easy access to scenic trails.
E-bike rentals typically start around $29 per hour, with half-day (4 hours) less than the price of a 2-hour rental, and full-day options just a little bit more expensive. If you come back earlier than you thought, we will charge you accordingly to your actual use, not your reservation.
Renting DeLuxe e-bikes for half a day (4 hours) is $54, or less than the cost of twice the hourly rate, for a bike that includes many features, such as basket, phone holder, front and back lights, pedal assist and key lock. This is often perceived as the best value.

We offer a wide range of top brand bikes like Aventon, Fuji, or BESV, including comfort e-bikes, DeLuxe, Power e-bikes, fat tire, cargo, and surrey bikes for two to four adults (and a couple of young kids), kids' bikes, and tandem bikes. Absolutely! We sell bikes and e-bikes, used and new, from top manufacturers like Aventon, Fuji, or BESV. We can sell bikes we have in inventory or order a bike directly from the manufacturer for you. If so, we will assemble the bike, ensure it is functioning properly and service the bike over its long life time. Fall is the best time to get deals on perfectly functioning used bikes which we can sell at heavily discounted prices. Just ask what we can do for you!
