Rental Agreement, Liability Waiver & Safety Acknowledgment

To save time when picking up your bike, please complete this online waiver before arriving for your reservation. Rental equipment will not be released until this agreement has been completed.

Please read this agreement carefully. By checking the boxes and signing electronically below, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to all terms and conditions outlined in this Rental Agreement, Liability Waiver, and Safety Acknowledgment. You agree that your electronic signature is legally binding and equivalent to a handwritten signature.

Helmet & Safety Information

Helmets are available and helmet use is required for riders under the age of 18 and for riders of any throttle-equipped bikes, and strongly recommended for all other riders. All riders must follow helmet and safety requirements provided by Tahoe Bike Company at the time of pickup and during the rental period.

Rider Responsibility & Ability

I certify that I am physically able to operate a bicycle or e-bike and that I am familiar with its operation. I agree to operate the equipment in a safe and responsible manner and to follow all instructions provided by Tahoe Bike Company staff.

Safety Rules

I agree to follow all safety rules and riding guidelines, including but not limited to:

  • Riding at safe speeds
  • Obeying all traffic laws
  • Yielding to pedestrians
  • Staying on permitted bike paths and trails
  • Exercising caution around sand, gravel, wildlife, vehicles, and changing weather conditions

I understand that failure to follow these rules may increase risk of injury or damage and may result in additional charges or termination of the rental.

Assumption of Risks

I understand that bicycling and e-bike riding involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Collisions and falls
  • Road and trail hazards
  • Sand, gravel, and changing terrain
  • Wildlife encounters
  • Mechanical failures
  • Weather conditions
  • Actions of other riders, pedestrians, or vehicles

I voluntarily assume all risks associated with the use of rented equipment.

Release of Liability

In consideration of being allowed to rent and use equipment from Tahoe Bike Company, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless Tahoe Bike Company, its owners, employees, agents, and affiliates from any and all liability, claims, demands, damages, or causes of action arising from or related to the use of rental equipment, including claims based on negligence, to the fullest extent permitted by California law.

Equipment Responsibility

I accept full responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to rented equipment during my rental period.

I accept the equipment in good working condition and agree to take reasonable care of the equipment while it is in my possession. I agree to return rental equipment in clean and undamaged condition and understand that additional charges may apply for damage, excessive cleaning, late returns, or lost equipment.

E-Bike Acknowledgment

I understand that e-bikes accelerate faster and reach higher speeds than traditional bicycles. I confirm that I will not begin riding until I have received instructions from company staff and understand how to safely operate the bike.

Rider Safety Guide

  • Ride on designated bike paths
  • Watch for sand on lakeside paths
  • Yield to pedestrians and keep right
  • Be cautious near wildlife and never approach animals
  • Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen
  • Return bikes on time to avoid additional charges
  • Always wear a helmet
