Tahoe Bike Company Wins Best Bike Rentals in South Lake Tahoe

This one means a lot, because it came straight from the people who ride here. Every vote was cast by a local or a visitor who spent time on Tahoe's trails this summer, and many of you started those rides at our door on Harrison Avenue.
What is Best of Bike?
Best of Bike 2026 is a new, region-wide public survey from Bike Tahoe, the local advocacy group that has spent more than two decades building and caring for Tahoe's bike trails. Voting ran all summer, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, and was open to residents and visitors on both the South Shore and the North Tahoe/Truckee side.
The goal is to recognize the shops, trails, events and businesses that make Lake Tahoe such a special place to ride. The campaign was backed by the Tahoe Daily Tribune and community sponsors including Visit Lake Tahoe, the City of South Lake Tahoe, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and Barton Health. Bike Tahoe plans to make it an annual tradition, and we're proud to be part of the very first year.
Thank you for riding with us
To everyone who voted, rented a bike, left us a review or simply waved on the trail: thank you. Since our family took over the shop in 2025, our goal has been simple. We want every rider to leave our shop feeling confident, comfortable and excited about where they're headed.
Here's what we think made the difference this season:
- The biggest selection in town. E-bikes, cruisers, fat tire bikes, cargo bikes, tandems, kids' bikes and two- and four-pedal surreys, all under one roof.
- Rentals by the hour. Want a quick spin instead of a half day? E-bikes start at $29 per hour, so you only pay for what you ride.
- Right on the trail. Our shop sits on South Lake Tahoe's paved trail network, so you can roll straight toward Cove East, Camp Richardson, Kiva Beach and Baldwin Beach without touching a busy road.
- Families welcome. Child seats, trailers, kids' bikes and surreys make it easy to bring the whole crew, puppy in the basket included.
- A team that takes time with you. We fit every bike, walk first-timers through how their e-bike works and point you to the route that suits your group.
You've shown it in your reviews, too. Our shop holds a 4.8-star rating on Google, and 98% of the 100+ reviews we've received since 2025 are five stars.
Congratulations to our fellow winners
We're in great company. A big congratulations to the other South Lake Tahoe Best of Bike winners:
- Bike Retail/Repair: Sierra Ski & Cycle Works
- Bike Path Rides: Camp Richardson Forest Trail (one of our favorite routes from the shop)
- Bike Events: Tahoe Mountain Bike Festival & Triple Crown Ride
- Brew: South Lake Tahoe Brewing Company, a well-earned stop after a long ride
And thank you to Bike Tahoe and every volunteer and advocate who keeps our trails connected, maintained and welcoming. You can see the full list of winners on the Tahoe Daily Tribune's Best of Bike 2026 page.
Come celebrate with a fall ride
The summer crowds are gone, but riding season isn't over. Fall is one of the best times to be on the trail here: crisp air, golden aspens and quiet paths. Ride out through the Upper Truckee Marsh to Taylor Creek and you may catch the kokanee salmon run, when hundreds of bright red fish swim upstream to spawn.
We're open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last rentals at 4 p.m. on winter hours. Walk-ins are always welcome, but booking ahead guarantees your pick of the fleet.
Book your ride and come see why South Lake Tahoe voted us the best. We'll see you on the trail!
